Cantates Cycle (BWV 169 & 49)

Recinte Modernista de Sant Pau - 08.00 PM

In October 1726, Bach composed several cantatas featuring brilliant instrumental sinfonias in the Italian style. In particular, these are Cantatas BWV 169 and BWV 49, both of which open with inspired concertante movements from the famous Concerto for Oboe d’amore, BWV 1053r.

The solo parts stand out for their virtuosity and beautiful dialogue with the other musicians. We are thus faced with a unique combination of instrumental pieces and sacred music, which we also present 300 years after its premiere.
