The lute, recorder and viola da gamba reached their peak in the 16th and 17th centuries, but their popularity declined with the rise of other melodic instruments, especially the violin. However, these instruments did not give up without a fight: virtuoso viola da gamba solos, lyricism of the lute and gallant recorder arias combine to create surprising effects!
