New Year's Concert

Església Luterana de parla alemanya - 7.00 P.M.

In line with the theme of this year’s programming, the Bachcelona Consort and the Solistes Salvat are interpreting Bach cantatas composed in 1725. The cantata BWV 28 Gottlob! nun geht das Jahr zu Ende was presented in Leipzig on 30 December 1725, which means we will be listening to it precisely 300 years after its first performance.

The cantata’s libretto is by Erdmann Neumeister, considered the creator of the modern cantata. In this case, he decided not to include the daily readings and focused on thanking God for the goodness received during the year that was coming to an end, and on praying that God should continue to bless us in the year about to begin. Bach illustrated these words with music of great tenderness.
