Cantatas Cycle (BWV 1, 92 i 127)
Recinte Modernista de Sant Pau (Sala Domènech i Montaner) - 8.00 P.M
We kick off our concert series of 2025 with three Bach cantatas composed in the early months of 1725 (BWV 1, 92 and 127), exactly 300 years ago. The programme comprises three sections, each of which presents a dialogue with composers who were contemporaries of Bach, based on each cantata’s text and chorale. Specifically, we will be enjoying works of Zachow (Händel’s professor, born in Leipzig), Graupner (who outdid Bach in the competitive examinations to become the Thomaskantor) and Telemann (the godfather of Johann Sebastian’s son Carl Philipp Emanuel).
