Ferran Mitjans, tenor
In 2005, he began his musical studies of singing and cello at the Escolania de Montserrat under the tutelage of Quim Piqué, Eduard Vila and Bernat Vivancos, where he recorded three CDs performing solo roles in the last two. He later joined the Orfeó Català Youth Choir, where he continued to train with the soprano Anna Ollet, taking on soloist roles in the productions of Dido and Aeneas by H. Purcell, the Magnificat by J. S. Bach and Messiah by Handel .
Despite studying Physiotherapy, he continued his musical studies at the Liceu Conservatory until in 2018 he began his professional career winning the Salvat Beca Bach.
This opened the doors for him to perform his first solo concerts and to receive lessons from countertenor Carlos Mena, baritone Marcel Boone and soprano Marta Mathéu.
He then began to work regularly with professional choirs such as the Collegium Vocale Gent, under the direction of Philippe Herreweghe; the Young Chapel and the Royal Chapel of Catalonia, with Jordi Savall; Vox Luminis and Cor Cererols, among others; thus specializing in the Baroque and Renaissance repertoire; and where he has made numerous recordings with the aforementioned choirs, such as Cum Silentio in 2020; as well as major works of the choral repertoire such as Mozart’s Requiem, J.S.Bach’s Christmas Oratorio and Passion according to Saint John (soloist role) and Beethoven’s Misa Solemnis, among others.
He has recently completed the Master of Lied “Victoria de los Ángeles” at the ESMUC, forming a duo with the pianist Llum Colomer under the tutelage of the soprano Assumpta Mateu and the pianist Francisco Poyato.
