From 25 to 27 April

La Vall d’en Bach

Bach by bike

Following last year’s success, we are presenting the second edition of Vall d’en Bach, an initiative of Fundació Bachcelona that consists in offering concerts in Romanesque churches of the Vall d’en Bas valley. Surrounded by La Garrotxa’s beautiful scenery, the public will enjoy a tasting of delicious local products after each concert and travel by bicycle to the next church on the programme. The organisation will provide conventional (or if so preferred, electric) bicycles for all attendants and the route includes such emblematic churches as those of Joanetes, Santa Maria de Puigpardines and Sant Esteve d’en Bas.

This year we are proposing a new feature: a series of supplementary activities to round off the Bach week at the Vall d’en Bas:

Friday, April 25TH - 8.00 P.M.

Bachcelona Consort

Església de Sant Esteve d'en Bas

We present a dialogue between Bach and the brothers Joan Baptista Pla (Balaguer, 1720 – Paris, 1773) and Josep Pla (1728, Balaguer – 1762, Stuttgart), two significant Catalan musicians who carried out a very notable artistic activity, visiting the leading cities of Europe. Their maternal family was from La Garrotxa and with this concert we hope to contribute to the recovery of the Catalan musical heritage.

Saturday, April 26TH - 6.00 P.M.

Ba Ba Bach

Centre Cultural Can Trona

A family production inspired by Bach’s melodies, in which the company Com Sona? uses sound and light to create a magical atmosphere. Marked by its great sensitivity and tenderness, this is an ideal way to introduce children to Bach’s music!

Saturday, April 26TH - 8.00 P.M.

Flash Bach

Centre Cultural Can Trona

A screening of the film El silenci abans de Bach (The Silence before Bach), a stimulating reflexion of filmmaker Pere Portabella on the great composer from Leipzig. The session will feature a prior presentation by Esteve Riambau, a recognised expert on Portabella’s work.
