Elen Lloyd Roberts, soprano<\/em><\/h2>\n

Originally from the countryside of north west Wales, soprano Elen Lloyd Roberts is now
\nbased in London. After studying for a degree in Music at Durham University, she went on to complete a Master\u2019s degree in Vocal Performance at the Royal Academy of Music, London.<\/p>\n

She enjoys a varied freelance career as a soloist and ensemble singer and is just as at home on the operatic stage as she is on the concert platform. Her operatic roles include Susanna Le nozze di Figaro, Despina Cos\u00ec fan tutte, Zerlina Don Giovanni, Marzelline Fidelio, Gretel H\u00e4nsel und Gretel, and Drusilla L\u2019incoronazione di Poppea<\/em>. In 2022, she premiered the role of Y Ff\u0175l (The Jester) in Mared Emlyn\u2019s new Welsh opera for children, Cyfrinach y Brenin (\u2018The King\u2019s Secret\u2019), with OPRA Cymru. She joined Mid Wales Opera in the Spring of 2024 for their five-star production of Verdi\u2019s Macbeth, in which she sang the role of a Witch.
\nIn 2023, Elen joined the newly-formed Utopia Choir and Orchestra under the baton of Teodor
\nCurrentzis to perform Mozart\u2019s Mass in C Minor and Peter Sellars\u2019 production of Purcell\u2019s The Indian Queen at the Salzburger Festspiele<\/em>. She looks forward to singing with Utopia again in early 2025, this time in Rameau\u2019s opera Castor et Pollux<\/em> at the Opera Garnier, Paris, again under Currentzis<\/em>\u2019 and Sellar\u2019s<\/em> direction.<\/p>\n

With a passion for singing Baroque music, Elen is delighted to have been selected as the soprano soloist for the 2025 Salvat Beca Bach Grant.
