Today, the grant called <strong>SALVAT GRANT<\/strong> for <strong>BAROQUE MUSIC<\/strong> (SGBM) aims to promote the training and development of young soloist singers of ancient music to become a benchmark platform that offers visibility to new vocal talents.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to rewarding the best soloists in each of the four voice categories (soprano, contralto-countertenor, tenor, and baritone-bass), the mission of the Salvat Grant is to identify, train and provide opportunities for young soloists from around the world to perform in concerts, for whom winning the scholarship can be an effective boost at the start of their professional careers.<\/p>\n<p>With the SGBM, the Salvat Foundation, the entity that develops charitable work of the Salvat Pharmaceutical Group, annually awards four soloists an economic endowment of <strong>5,000 euros for each of the winners<\/strong>, and links it with their participation in the concerts that will be programmed throughout 2025\/26<br \/>\n(detailed in these rules), in which they will be accompanied by musicians with a solid career in the world of performance with baroque instruments and historical criteria. The SGBM has the support and musical programming expertise of the Bachcelona Foundation, the Bach Collegium Barcelona and the Fundaci\u00f3 Orfe\u00f3 Catal\u00e0 \u2013 Palau de la M\u00fasica Catalana.<\/p>\n<p>The SGBM also offers training and collaborations with renowned musicians and professionals. In previous years these have included countertenor<strong> Carlos Mena<\/strong>, soprano <strong>Katharine Fuge<\/strong>, baritone <strong>Stephan MacLeod<\/strong>, tenor <strong>Benjamin Bruns<\/strong>, baritone <strong>Jan Van der Crabben<\/strong>, flautist <strong>Michel Brun,<\/strong> soprano <strong>Miriam Feuersinger<\/strong>, bass <strong>Alex Ashworth<\/strong>, soprano <strong>Mar\u00eda Espada,<\/strong> soprano <strong>Mar\u00eda Hinojosa<\/strong> and the director of the Academy of Ancient Music Laurence Cummings. In 2025\/26 grant recipients will have the privilege of working with counter tenor <strong>Alex Potter<\/strong>, with who they will prepare and share stage at the winners presentation concert that will take place at the Palau de la M\u00fasica Catalana in Barcelona.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;30&#8243;][vc_column_text]\n<h2>Granted concerts in 2025\/2026<\/h2>\n<p>The grant will take place at the end of 2025 and in 2026 with the following activities:<\/p>\n<p><strong>2 December 2025<\/strong><br \/>\nFundaci\u00f3 Salvat\u2019s Christmas Concert<br \/>\nPresentation of the winning soloists of the Salvat Grant for Baroque Music 2026 Palau de la M\u00fasica Catalana. Barcelona<br \/>\nAlex Potter, counter tenor<\/p>\n<p><strong>From 17 to 23 March 2026<\/strong><br \/>\nConcert Museu de la M\u00fasica, Barcelona<br \/>\nSetmana M\u00fasica Sacra Segovia<br \/>\nCicle Fundaci\u00f3n Juan March. Madrid<\/p>\n<p><strong>From 14 to 21 July 2026<\/strong><br \/>\nConcert Museu de la M\u00fasica, Barcelona<br \/>\nFestival de M\u00fasica Antiga dels Pirineus, several locations in the Pyrenees Festival de M\u00fasica Barroca V\u00e9lez Blanc, Almer\u00eda<\/p>\n<p>SGBM recipients must be available to participate in all activities scheduled during 2025\/26 described above along with two rehearsals, the dates of which will be duly agreed with the recipients.<\/p>\n<p>Care will be taken to ensure that all soloists play a relevant role in each and every one of the concerts that they will be summoned, either in the arias of the proposed repertoire or in others added for this purpose.<br \/>\n[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;30&#8243;][vc_column_text]\n<h2>Candidate requirements<\/h2>\n<p>Candidates must be <strong>between the ages of 18 and 32<\/strong> by 1 January 2026.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;30&#8243;][vc_column_text]\n<h2>Applications<\/h2>\n<p>Applications will be done through the <strong>MUVAC PLATFORM. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On the MUVAC music professionals platform, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.muvac.com\">www.muvac.com<\/a>, in the section related to calls for applications for the SALVAT GRANT for BAROQUE MUSIC 2026, you will find all the necessary information and the link to the form you will need to fill out, as well as uploading your CV and a recent recording (from 2025) performing a piece of Baroque music.<\/p>\n<p>These requirements are essential in order to correctly formalise your application for the SGBM. [\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;30&#8243;][vc_column_text]\n<h2>Terms and submission applications<\/h2>\n<p>The call for applications will be open <strong>between 8 July and 10 August 2025 <\/strong>(both dates included). [\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;30&#8243;][vc_column_text]\n<h2>Selection process<\/h2>\n<p>The organisation will carry out a<strong> first round of selection<\/strong> of applicants based on the analysis of the documentation submitted via the MUVAC PLATFORM.<\/p>\n<p>Once the application period is over, the organisation will decide which of the candidates will go on to the next phase of face-to-face auditions.<\/p>\n<p>This decision will be final and will be communicated by e-mail.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Phases of the face-to-face auditions<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Salvat Grant organisation will carry out the selection of grant recipients in two phases of face-to-face auditions.<\/p>\n<p>The accompaniment of the face-to-face phases will be done with harpsichord tuned at 415 Hz.<\/p>\n<p><u><strong>First phase<\/strong><\/u><br \/>\nThe objective of this phase is to select the candidates who will progress to the final audition.<br \/>\nIt consists of face-to-face auditions in Madrid, Barcelona and Basel:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tuesday 23 September 2025<\/strong> &gt; Fundaci\u00f3n Alb\u00e9niz \/ Escuela de M\u00fasica Reina Sof\u00eda (Madrid)<br \/>\n<strong>Thursday 9 October 2025<\/strong> &gt; Sala del Cor. Gran Teatre del Liceu (Barcelona)<br \/>\n<strong>Friday 17 October 2025<\/strong> &gt; Don Bosco Musik- und Kulturzentrum (Basel, Switzerland)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Repertoire:<\/strong><br \/>\nPerformance of a compulsory aria (see repertoire of compulsory arias in the section <em>Requirements for audition<\/em>), along with a baroque style piece (composed before 1750) chosen by the candidates themselves.<\/p>\n<p>The schedule for the auditions and interviews will be communicated in due time via the e-mail address provided by candidates in their application.<\/p>\n<p>The panel\u2019s decision will be final and will be communicated via e-mail.<\/p>\n<p>This audition phase may be recorded with the aim of being able to review the recordings later if the jury deems it appropriate.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Final auditions<\/u><\/strong><br \/>\nThe aim of this phase is to select the four grant recipients of the 12th edition of the Salvat Grant for Baroque Music 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Those selected in the first phase will be invited to attend the final audition at the Palau de la M\u00fasica Catalana (Barcelona).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Thursday 13 November 2025 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Repertoire:<\/strong> This audition will consist of the compulsory aria (the same one performed in the first phase), along with one chosen by the candidate (different from the one performed in the first phase).<\/p>\n<p>The jury of this edition will be made up of:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Javier Peris &#8211; President of the Salvat Foundation<br \/>\n\u2022 Pau Jorquera &#8211; Bach Collegium Barcelona<br \/>\n\u2022 Daniel Tarrida &#8211; Bachcelona Foundation<br \/>\n\u2022 Mercedes Conde \u2013 Palau de la M\u00fasica Catalana<br \/>\n&#8211; Antoni Pall\u00e8s \u2013 Gran Teatre del Liceu<br \/>\n&#8211; Mar\u00eda Hinojosa \u2013 Soprano<br \/>\n&#8211; Jordi Maddaleno \u2013 Musical critic<\/p>\n<p>The Foundation reserves the right to replace the members of the jury who are unable to attend the final audition.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, the auditions may be attended by people whom the Salvat Foundation deems appropriate. The Foundation reserves the right to have the auditions of the final phase open to the public.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;30&#8243;][vc_column_text]\n<h2>Audition requirements<\/h2>\n<p>Candidates must perform two arias of baroque style.<br \/>\n\u2022 One required aria:<\/p>\n<p><b>Aria soprano <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">BWV 32.1 Liebster Jesu, mein Verlangen<br \/>\n<\/span><b>Aria contralto <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">BWV 187.3 Du, Herr, du kr\u00f6nst allein das Jahr<br \/>\n<\/span><b>Aria tenor <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">BWV 186.5 Mein Heiland l\u00e4\u00dft sich merken<br \/>\n<\/span><b>Aria bass <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">BWV 56.1 Ich will den Kreuzstab gerne tragen\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Another one freely chosen by the candidate, of baroque style composed prior to 1750.<br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The organisation will provide an accompanying harpsichordist. However, if a\u00a0 candidate wishes to bring their own harpsichordist, they will need to let the\u00a0 organisation know in advance. In this case, the organisation will happily oblige. <\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;30&#8243;][vc_column_text]\n<h2>Awarding of the grant<\/h2>\n<p>The jury\u2019s decision will be made public within a week following the completion of auditions. Their decision will be final. All candidates will receive the results via e email and they will also be announced simultaneously via the Salvat Foundation\u2019s website <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fundacionsalvat.com\">www.fundacionsalvat.com <\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Salvat Grant jury reserves the right to declare one or more void grants if it considers the quality of the candidates to be insufficient.<\/p>\n<p>The SGBM will be considered awarded once the recipient has accepted it in writing via email to <span style=\"color: #168fac;\"><a style=\"color: #168fac;\" href=\"mailto:salvatbecabach@fundacionsalvat.com\">salvatbecabach@fundacionsalvat.com<\/a><\/span> within 15 calendar days from the date of announcement of the results. Failure to do so will result in the recipient waiving the grant.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;30&#8243;][vc_column_text]By accepting the grant, the chosen candidates are obliged to carry out all the activities programmed by the SGBM. Failure to comply with this commitment without a duly justified cause may result in rescission of the grant.<\/p>\n<p>The Salvat Foundation reserves the right to postpone or cancel the concerts it organises in case of force majeure, without this implying any possibility of a claim by the SGBM recipients.<br \/>\nThe Salvat Foundation will not cover travel expenses for the audition phases. However, once the grant recipients have been selected, the Foundation agrees to cover the travel and accommodation expenses incurred by the grant recipients related to the concerts and activities directly linked to the SGBM of 2026.<\/p>\n<p>In the event that a choir is required for the interpretation of the proposed pieces, the grant soloists will interpret the arias assigned to them and will also participate as part of the choir, should the director consider it appropriate.<\/p>\n<p>However, the Salvat Foundation will organise a series of concerts throughout the year featuring various soloists who have won previous editions of the SGBM.
