COMPLETE SONATAS AND PARTITAS (II)
8.00 P.M. Sala Parés
Mario Brunello, cello piccolo
The prestigious Italian cellist Mario Brunello will be taking one of the major challenges in the Bach world: the interpretation of the great composer’s sonatas and partitas on a piccolo cello. The tuning of this 5-string instrument, which was used until the mid-18th century, coincides with that of the violin, allowing the performance of pieces on the very highest level of difficulty. This event thus will offer us the rare opportunity to hear the polyphony of a fugue or the density of the famous ciaccona with the incomparable sonority of the cello.
